Post-COVID, both individuals and governments have come to recognise that health and food security are among the most vital components of life. In this context, natural farming and sustainable development are increasingly seen as key to the survival of humanity and the health of Planet Earth.
Soil, air and water are the tangible basis of all life forms. The air in Himachal Pradesh is comparatively cleaner. But the same cannot be said of water, and not at all for soil, since in recent times there has been an increase in use of chemicals on farms. We are here looking at an integrated approach where agro-economy is not just ecologically sustaining but is the basis of overall sustainable development.
The crying need of our times is to wean everyone, especially children, pregnant women and other vulnerable segments of the society, away from chemicals and artificial support systems. Nivritti, has created a practical role model of indigenous cow-based natural and sustainable agriculture in Shahpur Tehsil of District Kangra in Himachal Pradesh by creating natural model farms of diverse crops in about 10 acres area with success. The organization is in touch with local farmers and has been motivating them for the past few years. A strong sense of trust has been built with local farmers, enabling them to be receptive and actively engaged with Nivritti. We regularly conduct farmer training workshops, skill development programs, and awareness seminars.
